Dedicated to Mary Vargas
(My friend)
In Her Dreams
There is a young girl and her name is Mary, and you may think that Mary is a well behaved girl. No she is not. Her mom has to yell at her to get her to do something, but the part that gets her mom really mad is that she is shy, very shy. She won't talk to people... She makes her mom order her food at a restaurant. But, one night Mary’s mom asked Mary to take the dog out. Surprisingly she did, but the dog ran away and that got Mary’s mom pretty mad. “I demand you to go to your room because I put you in charge of the dog. I thought you could do it … apparently not!” yelled Mary’s mom.
Well Mary knew she was in trouble, deep, deep trouble. So, Mary listened to her mom and thought to herself, "What a dumb dog! A poodle is smarter than a mutt...well smarter than Bailey." And, then she walked into her room while her mom was calling for Bailey. “I wish I didn’t live here. In fact, I wish I wasn’t part of this family.” Mary mumbled just in case her mom was listening because she knew that her mom would get even angrier at her, not the dog, at her. After ten minutes, Mary began to feel a bit drowsy so she got in her bed and fell asleep. Now this where the magic happens.
Words appeared in her mind like... "Poodlless aree smartterrr, dummb doog, wissh that I wass noot paart oof thhis ffamily." Then, she woke up, but not in just any normal house. To her, it was a penthouse (it was way way way more than that). So she got up to look at herself. Her mouth fell open. She was a whole new person: white skin (which she already had), no scars or cuts, and brown, beautiful hair. But, there was one thing missing. “Where’s Bailey?” she said confused. She looked around calling Bailey's name. Then something caught the corner of her eye. It was a dog, not a mutt with a pink dirty collar, it was a poodle with a sparkling neon green collar. Its head was tilted. “What are you looking at… Noodles?” Mary said.
Mary thought for a minute. Then she had it! She just remembered that she thought that a poodle was smarter than Bailey. “That’s it!” Mary said excitedly. Then after a few seconds, she looked sad. "l shouldn't have said that about Bailey.” Mary said with a tear. Then she looked around some more. Her eyes grew bigger and bigger and bigger when she saw her closet. The closet was full of clothes (dresses only), very expensive tennis shoes, high heels and a cabinet that had a key. This cabinet was full of jewelry. Everything was in order. So, she put on a dress that was sky blue and splattered with white daisy flowers. Around her neck she wore a diamond necklace with a pair of diamond earrings to match. She chose silver tennis shoes that go up to her knees that have a purple peace sign on the side. Then, she grabbed her blue book bag that was covered with sparkly neon green and yellow peace signs and her phone with a fancy cover decorated with a poodle wearing a sparkly neon green collar. "Noodles." she said evilly . Her phone was laying on her own make up vanity which was pretty cool for her because she always dreamed of having one.
Then, she left the room and went downstairs which that took about ten minutes. By the time Mary was done she was begging for air. The butler look confused.
“You look tired” said the butler. "The… stairs…are… too… long” gasped Mary. Mary went in the kitchen to get a glass of icy cool water. There was a woman standing in the kitchen talking on the phone. Then she hung it back up. “Hi honey, how did you sleep?” said the woman. “Why are you calling me honey?” Mary straightened up. “Sweetie, I’m your mom,” said the woman with a frown. “Ha-ha-ha no you're not!” Mary said madly "Yes I am!” The woman yelled, “You need to wake up.” said the woman. “What?” said Mary. “Wake up.” said the woman again. Mary woke up. She was very happy to see her mom. She gave her mom a big a hug. “You know this is not going to cut it, right? Anyway, get dressed or you're going to be late for school.” said Mary’s mom. "But I am dressed mom, don't you like my dress?" Mary looked down, realizing that she was wearing her pajamas decorated with a girl lying in the grass with a sky blue dress splattered with white daisy flowers saying "Life is good!!". Mary's mom gave her the look that means, You're completely out of your mind. "It's a long story Mom, I'll tell you all about it on the way to school." Mary was really happy to see her normal, happy, not fancy family, including Bailey.
